About This Old Recap

Welcome to my passion project dedicated to America's longest-running home improvement show

Why I Started This Site

Growing up in Australia, I never watched This Old House as a kid - the show wasn't available there. It wasn't until my 30s that I stumbled upon the free TOH channel on TV and discovered this incredible resource. My dad was a true DIYer who could fix anything from neighbors' lawnmowers and broken TVs to doing full house renovations - all before the internet and YouTube guides existed. He would've absolutely loved This Old House - I know because I love learning from the show. It's given me the confidence to accomplish many tasks my wife wishes I hadn't taken on! Now living in Los Angeles with my wife and two daughters, I watch the show so much that my daughter refers to it as the "Fixing Show" and actually watches it with me. There's something magical about seeing ordinary houses transformed into extraordinary homes, and the way Tom Silva, Norm Abram, Richard Trethewey, and the entire crew make complex projects seem achievable.

As I grew older and started tackling my own home improvement projects, I found myself constantly referencing episodes I'd seen years before. "Didn't Tom show a technique for that in Season 32?" or "I remember Richard explaining that plumbing issue, but which episode was it?" The problem was, there wasn't a comprehensive resource that cataloged all the incredible knowledge shared across hundreds of episodes.

That's when This Old Recap was born. I wanted to create the resource I wished existed – a detailed, searchable database of every episode, technique, tip, and project featured on This Old House. Whether you're a seasoned contractor or a weekend warrior, this site is designed to help you find exactly what you're looking for.

About Affiliate Links

You may notice affiliate links throughout this site when I recommend tools, materials, or products that were featured in This Old House episodes. I want to be completely transparent about this.

While this site is a labor of love, it does require significant time and resources to maintain. Each episode recap takes hours to research, write, and fact-check. The hosting costs, domain fees, and time investment add up quickly.

When you purchase through affiliate links, it helps support the costs of running this site and allows me to continue creating detailed, high-quality content. I only recommend products that I genuinely believe in and that were actually featured or discussed on the show. Your trust is more valuable than any commission.
